The GTYE-8F is an 8 circuit flush mount load center that strikes the ideal balance between capacity and compactness. With room for a main breaker plus seven branch circuits, it comfortably powers three-bedroom homes, small restaurants, or professional clinics - offering ample headroom without forcing an oversized panel into the wall.
Description
This 8 circuit flush mount load center occupies the sweet spot for mid-size residential and light commercial installations, where electrical demands exceed the bare minimum but do not yet justify a larger enclosure. Its flush-mount design keeps wall lines clean in finished interiors, while the generous knockout pattern on all sides allows conduit entry from any direction - saving labor in crowded mechanical rooms.
Built from 1.2–1.5 mm electro-galvanized steel with a matte polyester powder coat, this 8 circuit flush mount panel delivers long-term corrosion resistance. It accepts standard THQL breakers, includes separate copper neutral and ground bars for proper sub-panel configuration, and features spacious wire gutters - ensuring reliable performance under sustained loads.

FAQ
Q: When using the GTYE-8F as a sub-panel, must the neutral and ground conductors be kept separate?
A: Yes, they must be kept separate. When serving as a sub-panel, the neutral bar and ground bar must not be bonded together inside the enclosure (i.e., do not install a Main Bonding Jumper). Neutral conductors land on the neutral bar, and ground conductors land on the ground bar; the two are bonded together only at the main panel via the Main Bonding Jumper. The GTYE-8F ships with separate neutral and ground bars to facilitate correct wiring. Incorrectly bonding neutral to ground inside a sub-panel can cause neutral current to return through the grounding conductor, creating a safety hazard.
Q: Is the steel enclosure's heat dissipation adequate when all eight circuits are under high load? Are additional ventilation measures required?
A: The GTYE-8F steel enclosure offers good thermal conductivity, and the spacious internal wiring channels promote natural-convection heat dissipation. Under the 125A total rated load, no additional ventilation is normally required. However, if multiple branch circuits operate near full load simultaneously (e.g., central AC, electric water heater, space heaters, and high-power kitchen appliances running at the same time), internal temperatures will rise significantly. In such cases, maintain at least 6 inches (150 mm) of clear space around the panel and avoid recessing it inside an airtight cabinet or insulation cavity. If the location is inherently poorly ventilated, consider adding louvered vents to the cabinet door or wall, provided the NEMA Type 1 dust-exclusion requirement is still met.
Q: Can tandem (twin) breakers be used in the GTYE-8F to increase the number of circuits?
A: Physically, standard 1-inch tandem breakers may fit some positions, but three things must be confirmed first: 1) whether the GTYE-8F internal bus stab is designed to accept tandem breakers (some bus slots only accommodate single-pole standard breakers); 2) whether local electrical codes permit the use of tandem breakers to increase circuit count on a 125A panel; and 3) that the total calculated load after adding circuits does not exceed the 125A rating. Consult the product manual for the bus layout diagram, or seek advice from a licensed electrician before installation.
Q: Under what circumstances should I choose the GTYE-8F instead of upgrading directly to the GTYE-12F?
A: Typical scenarios for choosing the GTYE-8F: 1) current electrical needs are clearly within six to seven branch circuits with no expansion planned; 2) wall cavity dimensions or budget constraints prevent accommodating the 12F; or 3) the panel serves as a zone sub-panel (e.g., second floor, garage, backyard studio) with limited equipment. Scenarios favoring the GTYE-12F: 1) planned future additions; 2) multiple dedicated 240 V circuits; or 3) a desire to avoid tandem breakers and keep every circuit on its own independent position.
General recommendation: if your current demand is already approaching seven circuits, or if renovation / addition is anticipated within five years, the GTYE-12F offers better future-proofing and value.
