High-tension copper alloy clips grip Class H or Class R fuses with consistent pressure. The spring geometry absorbs thermal expansion and mechanical vibration, maintaining low-contact-resistance terminations that resist arcing and pitting.

02Quick-Make / Quick-Break Mechanism

Direct-drive handle snaps the blade assembly across the contacts in a single rapid stroke. The swift transition minimises arcing time inside the fuse clips, preserving both the switch blades and the fuse end caps over repeated operations.

03Removable Interior Chassis

The fuse holder and contact carriage slide forward as one assembly after front screws are released. This permits bench-level fuse replacement and terminal inspection without unbolting the enclosure from its wall mount.

 

04Ample Gutter Space

Internal wire-bending volume exceeds NEC minimums for 30 A conductors and ring-tongue lugs. The deep gutter accommodates the extra length of fused conductors without crowding the terminal zone or compromising bending radius.

Pre-stamped ports on the top, bottom, sides, and rear accept ½-inch and ¾-inch trade-size conduit. Installers can align cable runs from any direction to suit indoor routing constraints and fuse-pull clearance.

FAQ

 

Q1: What fuse types does this switch accept?

A: The spring-reinforced clips accept standard Class H or Class R fuses rated for the switch voltage and current. Verify the fuse voltage rating matches your system (120/240 V AC or 250 V DC) and that the ampere rating does not exceed 30 A.

Q2: Can I use this fusible switch as a motor disconnect if the motor has its own overload relay?

A: Yes. The switch provides short-circuit protection via the fuses and isolation via the blades. The motor overload relay handles running overloads. Coordinate the fuse ampere rating with the motor full-load current and starting characteristics.

Q3: How do I safely replace a blown fuse without de-energising the entire panel?

A: Turn the switch handle to OFF and apply a padlock to the hasp. Verify zero energy with a qualified voltage tester on the load side. Only then remove the interior chassis and replace the fuse. Never pull a fuse under load.

Q4: Does the NEMA 1 enclosure need a separate fuse puller tool stored nearby?

A: A fuse puller is recommended but not included. Store one inside the electrical closet or tape it to the enclosure exterior. The removable chassis design allows finger-safe fuse handling once the interior is extracted.

Q5: Will the fuse clips lose tension after repeated fuse replacements?

A: The spring-reinforced clips are rated for hundreds of insertion-withdrawal cycles. Inspect clip tension annually by checking for loose fuses or discoloration at the clip tips. Replace the interior chassis if clips no longer grip firmly.

Q6: Can I install fuses of different ampere ratings in the same switch?

A: No. All fuses in a multi-pole switch must be identical in type, voltage rating, and ampere rating. Mismatched fuses create unbalanced current paths and may cause single-phasing in three-phase loads.

Q7: Does the NEMA 1 enclosure require additional ventilation when loaded near 30 A continuously?

A: NEMA 1 enclosures rely on natural convection. Mount the switch in a well-ventilated electrical closet with at least 150 mm clearance above and below. If the ambient exceeds 40°C or the load is continuous, consult the NEC derating tables or increase fuse size per manufacturer guidance.
