High-tension copper alloy contact jaws maintain firm, vibration-resistant blade engagement. The spring geometry compensates for thermal expansion under 60 A continuous loads, suppressing arcing and preserving contact surface integrity over long service intervals.

02Quick-Make / Quick-Break Mechanism

Direct-drive handle snaps the blade assembly across silver-plated contacts in a rapid single motion. The swift transition minimises arcing duration at 60 A interrupting levels, extending the mechanical life of the switch in high-current duty cycles.

03Removable Interior Chassis

The contact and terminal block slides forward as one assembly after front screws are loosened. This permits bench-level inspection, torque verification, and maintenance without detaching the enclosure from its pole or wall mount in the field.

Internal wire-bending volume exceeds NEC minimums for 60 A conductors and compression lugs. The deep gutter accommodates the larger bending radius required by 6 AWG to 1 AWG cables without crowding the terminal zone.

Pre-stamped conduit ports on the top, bottom, sides, and rear accept ½-inch, ¾-inch, and 1-inch trade sizes. Installers can route rigid conduit, EMT, or liquid-tight flex from any approach angle to suit heavy-current outdoor wiring methods.

06Padlockable Handle

An integrated hasp on the operating handle accepts standard padlocks up to 9 mm shackle diameter. Securing the switch in the OFF position satisfies OSHA lockout/tagout requirements during servicing of downstream 60 A equipment.

07Weatherproof Outdoor Models (NEMA 3R)

Gasketed door with continuous EPDM seal and sloped roof profile sheds rain, snow, and hose-directed water. The galvanised steel shell resists corrosion in exposed yard, rooftop, and industrial yard installations where 60 A disconnects must remain accessible in all weather.

08Straight-Through Wiring Design

FAQ

 

Q1: What size conductors does the 60 A switch accept?

A: The lugs accept copper or aluminium conductors from 6 AWG up to 1 AWG (16 mm² to 50 mm²). Always apply anti-oxidant compound on aluminium terminations and torque to the value marked on the lug label.

Q2: Can this switch handle motor inrush currents above 60 A?

A: As a non-fusible disconnect, it is rated for 60 A continuous and must be protected by an upstream breaker or fuses sized for the motor branch circuit. The switch blades can momentarily carry locked-rotor current without damage, but sustained overload will damage the contacts.

Q3: Is the NEMA 3R rating sufficient for direct sun exposure on a rooftop?

A: Yes. The galvanised steel shell and UV-stable gasket material withstand direct solar radiation. However, prolonged sun exposure can raise internal temperature; ensure the ambient including solar gain does not exceed 75°C.

Q4: Can I mount this switch on a round wooden utility pole?

A: Yes, using a pole-mounting bracket or banding kit (not included). Ensure the switch is oriented vertically with the hinge at the bottom, and that the pole diameter does not exceed the bracket adjustment range.

Q5: Does the switch include a ground lug for equipment bonding?

A: Yes, a dedicated copper ground lug is pre-installed inside the enclosure. Connect the equipment grounding conductor here to bond the switch chassis and downstream metallic raceways.

Q6: Is the 3-pole version suitable for disconnecting a three-phase motor?

A: Yes, the 3-pole configuration simultaneously opens all three phases. Ensure the switch is rated for the motor horsepower and that the upstream overcurrent device is coordinated with the motor starter overload relay.

Q7: How often should the gasket be inspected or replaced?

A: Inspect the EPDM door gasket annually for cracks, hardening, or compression set. Replace it every 3–5 years or sooner if visible deterioration is present, to maintain the NEMA 3R seal integrity.
